Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree and Other Gifts

Like many of you, I'm in a bit of a rush right now,
so I just asked my son which is his favorite
Christmas book.
"Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree," he said,
"Did you know it was a book?"
I did know it was a book by Robert Barry,
but not until years after I first
saw the delightful muppet version with (really, I'm not making
up) Robert Downey, Jr. as Mr. Willowby.
"It's in verse you know," says my son,
explaining the book's appeal.
The video is not in verse, but has songs and is very
charming.
Want more gift ideas?
Here's my post from last year's holiday.
And please, please, comment with
your own child pleasing gifts -
they need not be books.
(My son wants Qwirkle this year)

  2. I think I deleted my comment. Sorry. My son wants a castle and a dragon, so we are getting an Imaginext set (he saw it in the store). I would love to get this book because both my boys like books in verse. Last year, we got them a 6.5 ft trampoline to go in their bedroom. We actually put it in room while they were sleeping. Seeing their faces when they woke up was priceless. One was in sheer glee and did a cannonball. One was utterly confused, and then after watching his brother for a few seconds, joined in the fun. They jumped all morning and feel asleep eating their snack afterwards :)

  3. The 6.5' trampoline sounds amazing. We have a tiny one that's much used. Thanks for the ideas! Your boys may also like Eloise at Christmastime and Madeline's Christmas, both in verse.
